Kid Mode kids can run alone
Each child taps their name, picks their avatar and colour, and sees only their next few chores as huge emoji cards. Pre-readers press and hold to hear the chore read aloud.
Parent approval keeps stars honest
Mark any chore 'needs a grown-up check'. Cleaning a room only counts once you tap the tick — and you can approve straight from the notification.
Stars they spend on real prizes
1,000 stars = $1, so a piece of candy is 50 stars and a $10 toy is 10,000. Sweets are capped per day and per week; healthy treats and privileges aren't.
Badges that count repeats
Early Riser, Perfect Day, Chore Champ and custom badges you invent — each shows how many times it's been earned.
Family leaderboard with ties
Points, perfect days and streaks side by side. Tied kids share the same rank and get a 'Tied' tag, so nobody loses on a technicality.

Chore ideas by age
Ages 3–4
3–4 picture chores: put toys in the bin, clothes in the hamper, feed the pet with help. Emoji plus read-aloud does the work.
Ages 5–7
5–7 chores: make the bed, clear their plate, tidy shoes, water plants. This is the age where stars change everything.
Ages 8–10
Load the dishwasher, take out trash, fold laundry, wipe counters. Add photo proof for the ones that get half-done.
Ages 11–12
Full ownership: bathroom, vacuuming, cooking one meal, yard work. Open jobs board turns extras into earnings.
Questions parents ask
❓How many chores should a child have?
Roughly one per year of age, split across the day rather than piled into one block. Two or three daily habits plus one real chore is plenty for most school-age kids.
❓Should kids be paid for chores?
The common middle ground: household chores are unpaid because everyone contributes, while extra jobs earn. That's exactly how the open jobs board works — the daily list builds stars, and optional extras pay more.
❓How do you stop a chore being marked done when it isn't?
Turn on approval or photo proof for that chore. Nothing counts toward stars until a grown-up taps the tick, and kids never see a confusing 'waiting' state — the approval queue is yours.
❓Can grandparents or a babysitter help?
Yes. Invite other grown-ups by email with their own sign-in; only parents and guardians can approve chores or change sensitive family settings.
❓Does it work on a shared family tablet?
That's the main design. Kid Mode is a single tap away, leaving it always asks for the parent PIN, and a tablet marked as shared never shows one-tap approve buttons a child could press.
❓Is it a real app on the home screen?
Install it to the home screen from the browser and it opens full-screen, straight into Kid Mode when you're signed in. No app store needed.
